Boards, Boards, Boards by Ellen

Boards come in all sizes and shapes from large 12 x 20 inch cutting boards to small 4 x 6 inch counter/bar boards and several “specialty boards”.  A wooden board is a thing of beauty.  But, it is also a useful tool for the cook or the entertainer.  Each board is hand made individually with wood selections that compliment each other.  Each species of wood is unique in it’s properties.  I use only hardwoods in my boards and all are finished in 2 coats of a mix of mineral oil and beeswax.  The colors you see are the natural colors of the different species of wood.  My boards are made to be used.  They can be washed in warm soapy water after use and, if the finish is dull, a little mineral oil from the pharmacy will brighten it up and make it look like new.  Of course, any cuts in the wood only add character to the board!  Each board comes with instructions on care.  My large boards are slightly under 3/4 of an inch thick and are light enough for anyone to use.  Other boards vary in thickness but none are more than 3/4 of an inch thick to make them light and useable.  My large boards and 8 x 12 boards do not have rubber feet (smaller boards do) so that you can cut on one side and show the other if you wish.  The boards you see here are ones I have made.  A board can be as plain or as colorful as you wish.
